Your Dental Extraction Surgery After Care

From simple tooth extraction to a more complicated surgical procedure, we always schedule follow-up dental appointments to check-in on your oral health, monitor your healing, take out any remaining sutures, and go over your tooth restoration options that are available.
Dr. Pryor will provide personalized, detailed post-operative instructions to support your recovery. To protect the healing blood clot and avoid a painful condition known as dry socket, it is vital to avoid smoking, spitting forcefully, or drinking through a straw for the first few days. We will also guide you on how to keep the surgical site clean to prevent infection.
Please call our Winston Salem dental office a call immediately if you notice any of the following symptoms:
- Numbness to the tongue, lips, or chin
- The extraction site is painful—this may indicate dry socket
- Fever or chills occur
- The swelling gets worse
- Trouble swallowing
- Bleeding that doesn’t clot after the first 24 hours
For tooth replacement options, we provide a vast array of dental treatment options that can restore your beautiful smile. Options include partial or complete dentures, fixed dental bridges, and dental implants.
